Opportunities and Deadlines in January

Ho-ho-ho and Happy 2018!  The first semester has flown by and the second semester will likely fly by as quickly!

The local rural electric cooperatives offer Youth Tour trips.  There are two available: Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Washington, D.C.  Both are ALL EXPENSES PAID trips where our students can meet other students from Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Wyoming, and from across the United States.

If you have Ninnescah Rural Electric, the deadline to apply is January 18, 2018.  See Mrs. Glascock for a paper application or if you would rather, the website address is  http://n-r-e-c.ninnescah.com/ for more information and applications.  Sophomore or Junior students who win the Washington D.C. Youth Tour also have several more scholarship opportunities.  One scholarship is worth $10,000 so it is well worth the time to fill out the application for this one!

A few of you have Southern PIoneer and the deadline to apply is February 1, 2018.  Their website address is http://www.southernpioneer.net/ - hover on Community and select Youth Programs.  Scroll down the screen until you see the Youth Tour Application for you to complete.

For those who have Ark Valley Electric, the deadline for a trip to Steamboat Springs was December 1.  Next year they will sponsor the trip to Washington, D.C. so keep that in mind as you look at planning for future.

Midwest Energy also participates in the Youth Tour trips and they are looking for FIVE students who are current Juniors in high school.  The website is https://www.mwenergy.com/ - hover over Community and then select Youth Tour.  Toward the bottom of the screen is a button for the Youth Tour Application.  Theirs is due March 1, 2018 so you have a little more time.
